If you scroll through my Instagram feed it is probably blaringly obvious that I adore creating seasonal floral bowl arrangements. So much so that I felt compelled to attempt to articulate my love for them with a post specially dedicated to post – An ode to a seasonal floral bowl.

why I love a seasonal floral bowl…

So what is it I love about creating a seasonal bowl arrangement? To me they offer little windows that give you a view into what is growing in the garden or out in the fields at that particular moment. Creating a seasonal bowl allows me to loose myself. Blocking out all the noises and business that come with every day life with just the flowers for company. To fully be able immerse myself in their beauty and scent. Savouring each individual flowers unique qualities.

I love the spontaneity of creating a bowl arrangement too. You never quite know until you get started where the design might go. It just fully depends on the ingredients you have to work with. There is always room for that element of surprise. When you’re not quite sure if a particular stem will work but then when you place it. Yet when you do it is the perfect finial flourish that completes the arrangement beautifully. Its standing back once it is made and admiring the medley of wispy wiggly stems. The pure joy of admiring the colours of the flowers and seeing the colour pallet come together. As each stem is placed side by side within the bowl is something I will never tire of.

No matter what mood I might be in whether that is anxious, stress or fatigued the flowers instantly lift me. Using the stems in your own unique way to put your own spin on a bowl arrangement is special. Even if you have a class of students creating a bowl using exactly the same ingredients. Each one will still look completely different! This has always fascinated me when it comes to work with the flowers.
