Meet Joanne

I adore natural romantic florals that include blousy blooms especially  garden roses (my favourites), with scents that transport you to an English country garden.  Inspired by the seasons, I like my designs to reflect the wonerfulness that each one brings. As well as art, architecture and interiors also playing a part in influencing my floral designs.

Where it all began

It was all very serendipity! Whilst travelling through Central America back in 2008 I had an epiphany that I wanted  to escape my current role in the corporate world and pursue a career that allowed me to be more creatively hands on. Originally I enrolled to do a different FDA degree in Design Display but fate stepped in as the university discontinued the course. This left me wondering what an earth I would study instead? Reevaluating the list of other course options available I spotted it… Floral Design and Events Management and decided to go for it! After just a couple of classes I had fallen hook line and sinker for the flowers! After graduating with a 1st BA Hons, I set up Joanne Truby Floral Design in 2012 and have never looked

back! I feel so lucky to have a career I love so much and just keep falling in love with flowers more and more as the years go on! There is always something new to learn that will challenge me or a new flower discovery to be inspired by.  The business has since gone from strength to strength receiving accolades in the Hitched break through florist of the year awards. Becoming a regional finalist in the 2016 wedding industry awards and a finalist in the 2017 UK Wedding awards for best wedding florist. I also work with Jo Malone teaching regular floral workshops that celebrate their latest scent collections, which is a real pleasure.

When I’m not knee deep in flowers…

I’m busy being a Mumma to my little boy Harry. I Love to be outside with nature and enjoy going for long walks, I have recently got into gardening too and am very much enjoying learning about the different conditions each variety of flowers needs to grow. I also love to sing and sang the first dance song from my Mum and Dad’s wedding day at their 25th anniversary party.

My favourite way to unwind is with a good book, I’m a sucker for a romance but love a gripping thriller too. That’s enough about me, I would love to find out more about you! Do drop me an email to chat all things floral, I can’t wait to hear from you!
