Today I am rewinding back to September last year (I can’t believe how fast this year is speeding by seems unbelievable that we are already in June!). When I had the absolute pleasure of working with Sam & Chris on their utterly gorgeous raspberry pink & blush wedding with luxe details including the flower curtain we created as a back drop to their top table….
The Ceremony
Ever since she was a little girl Sam had always wanted to get married at St George’s Church in Beckenham so of course when it came to planning their wedding ceremony there was no question as to where it would be held.
The Dress
Sam’s stunning dress was a bespoke design by designer Naomi Neoh, Chloe purchased from BOA boutique in Richmond. Sam had the lace on the bodice replaced a small bolero made to match and the belt replaced with a handmade crystal belt from Ivory & Co. Her swoon worthy shimmering shoes were from Stuart Weitzman at Russell and Bromley.
The venue
Their reception was held at Addington Palace and naturally with its striking details it offered a stunning backdrop for their big day. The gold ornate chandelier in the great hall being a statement piece on it’s own.
Centre pieces
Sam & Chris allowed the spectacular back drop of Addington Palace to guide them with the style of their wedding in keeping with the ornateness of the venue they wanted to create an old school decadence feel. For the table centres they hired gorgeous crystal candelabra’s from Wedding Day Hire for half of the tables we created flower rings to sit around the base and for the other half of the tables we used our gold ridged vases which complimented the venue perfectly with flowers in their colour pallet of raspberry & blush pinks. We filled the crystal candle holders with pretty hydrangea petals which finished them off beautifully.
The arrangement below is made up of roses, lisianthus, astilbe, clematis with eucalyptus to add to the texture. I think the mix of the lighter & darker shades of pink work really well together.
Top Table
For the top table Sam’s clever mum Kay created a gold sequin table cloth & we designed a table scape that went the full length of the table. Made up of glass footed stands that had voluptuous arrangement on top of hydrangeas, roses & eucalyptus with cut glass vases in different shapes & sizes placed in between with glass ridged tea lights. The vintage glass ware worked perfectly with the crystal candelabra’s & tied everything in beautifully together.
The Hanging Flower Curtain
Sam & Chris wanted something to mark the main fireplace, particularly as their top table was going to be positioned in front of it. Initially we discussed the potential of having an arrangement/arrangements on top but we all decided that it would have to be really large to have any kind of impact where the fire place was so high. I then suggested the possibility of having something hanging from the fireplace instead & coincidentally Sam had pinned a stunning image of a hanging flower arrangement to her wedding board on pinterest & from there our hanging flower curtain design was born. I absolutely loved designing & installing this, it looked incredible (ahem if I do say so myself). We strung rose heads together in different shades of pink to match their scheme and incorporated crystal droplets to match the crystal candelabra’s. It is such a joy when a couple trust me to make their vision come alive & I am so grateful to Sam & Chris for allowing me to be so creative with their wedding brief.
Other Details
The white & silver sequin hearts pictured below were purchased by Kay & we added pretty button hole sized posy’s to them, they were used as the church pew ends to mark the isle and were then moved to the venue & tied to the bannister in the main entrance hall. The two large silver urns were also moved from the church & used to mark the entrance to the venue. I would always suggest re-using your ceremony arrangements where ever possible to get the most use out of them throughout your wedding day.
Thank you very much to Sam & Chris for sharing their gorgeous day & to Butler-Madden Weddings for their beautiful images. I hope it has given you some inspiration and ideas particularly if you’re planning on having a similar style for your big day. Are you thinking of old school decadence? How are you planning on incorporating this style into your wedding day?
