Today I was surrounded by beautiful seasonal flowers for a mini vintage themed photo shoot to give all our brides to be a peak of the big floral trend for weddings at the moment which is all things vintage. Vintage bouquets with blooms of soft, feminine shades are currently a popular choice and so I decided to choose a colour pallet of coral pinks, light dusty pink and lilacs…..

I had been hunting for a vintage brown suitcase for ages and I even visited a vintage fair but all the people who had them on their stalls said they were for display only so these suitcases seem to be like gold-dust at the moment! One day I was having a conversation with my dear Nan about my predicament and the next thing she presented me with the exact dark brown, worn, leather suitcase that I had been looking for! She said it use to be my granddad’s old school case and that I could keep it, what a lucky girl I am! I thought it would be perfect to use for vintage inspired weddings. I decided I wanted to create a design that incorporated the flowers emerging as if they were bursting out of the suitcase (I was thinking of the well-known book, the secret garden at the time).

The flowers I used were; Coral Charm Peonies, Agapanthus, lilac scabious and light pink pom pom Dahlias, I just love these colours together they have a real country garden feel to them.

The other day whilst on the hunt in an antiques shop for a vintage brooch for one of my lovely bride to be’s bouquet I stumbled across the prettiest tea cup and saucer which really caught my eye and I just had to have it to add to my collection. I decided to add some flowers to create a cute little arrangement…..

The bridal bouquet was made up of gorgeous ‘Coral Charm’ Peonies the flower starts out as a tightly closed bright fuchsia bud and transforms into a sprawling blossom with the palest-peach, tissue-paper-like petals. Agapanthus are bold, architectural and strikingly beautiful flowers that originating in South Africa. Pom pom Dahlias are well known for their signature ball shaped flowers and lilac Scabiosa which has pretty feathery like petals.

The foliage used is Cineraria Silver leaf which I have recently started to grow in the garden. I think the silver leaves work well against the lilac and pinks to create a pretty feminine feel. I finished the bouquet off with a hot pink satin ribbon and pearl pins.
