Welcome to Oz… Styled Shoot!

Rewind back to summer last year, it was one of those perfect blue sky and sunshine kinda days (hard to believe I know with all this rain we have  we have had in recent months!). Joanne Truby Floral Design  had the pleasure of being involved in a shoot that can only be described in one word… EPIC! Today I am sharing with you, Welcome to Oz as featured in the March issue of Perfect Wedding Magazine which is out in the shops now.

In case you haven’t already guessed it, the title is a little bit of a give away I know  😉 the inspiration behind the shoot was based on the Disney film Oz the Great and Powerful the film was released last year and has a star studded cast that includes Mila Kunis as the wicked witch of the West and Michelle Williams as Glinda the good witch. If you haven’t seen the film its definitely worth a watch, especially if you like the idea of being transported to a land of fantasy; bright giant  flowers, talking porcelain dolls & monkeys, magic, fire and sparkle, lots of sparkle!

Welcome to Oz was held at the stunning House Meadow, their is something truly special about this gem of a venue based in Biddenden Kent and I think this photo below says it all… just breath taking! Kerry Ann Duffy is one super talented lady, I am bowled over by how stunning each of the photos from this shoot are.

I wanted the flowers to encapsulate the gorgeous bright multicoloured tones from the film and the magic/fantasy surrounding them, for them to appear as if they had a mind of their own as if they were bursting out of the table! I created an arrangement that had a wild meadow like feel using a bold colour combinations & large sunflowers to create an animated feel and twisted willow twigs that had gloriosa wired to them.

Other flowers used included Dahlias, Delphiniums, Craspedia, Echinacea, and Delphiniums, I absolutely love the glass wine bottles with the gold writing and the white and gold glitter feathers beautifully styled by Clare, House Meadow manager and Kerry.

The gorgeous stationary was created by the very talented Becky Lord Design, who is also creating our brand new logo, very exciting! I love how Becky has incorporated the emerald greens with the golds together they just have Oz written all over them! The beautiful cake was created by Lella’s Cupcakes I adore the dusting of glitter that is scattered over the icing and the raspberry topping, just scrumptious!

The bouquets were of a similar colour pallet to the table design but with slightly more fushia pinks & reds, can you also spot the hints of gold sprayed foliage?

It was an absolute pleasure to be part of such an absolutely stunning shoot and working with this talented bunch, my advice to all you couples out there planning your wedding after seeing this is, don’t be afraid of colour! If you like bright colours follow your heart and go for it, I hope this gives you a colour popping extravaganza to take inspiration for your big day. I’m going to leave you with this enchanting video by the amazing Ignite Films of the shoot which really captures this magical day in a nutshell & there is even a short cameo appearance from moi!
