Last year on a beautiful warm sunny day (hard to belive we actually have them looking out of the window right now!) I was part of the talented team behind the Simple Love editorial shoot. Recently featured on The White Wren. The story behind the shoot conjured up by the fabulous Amy from The Timeless Stylist. A celebration of love in a beautifully paired back way. Surronded by nature and enjoying the simple pleasures in life, something that seems relevant now more then ever. Living in a global pandemic throughout the last year has instilled in us a new appreciation for all the little things.

Colour Pallet

The colour pallet for the flowers was made up of soft neutral tones. Whites & creams with hints of dusky pink and caramel. The Rudbeckia adding a deeper pop of colour in this bridal bouquet that I love and compliments the bronze tone of the fern leaf perfectly. The photographer for the shoot was the talented Claire Graham who I have had the pleasure of working with a number of times before.

Gorgeous real life couple Ali & Dionne, just make the pictures look effortless! I wish I could looke this natural in front of the camera! Dionne’s dress is so beautifully simple too but I am a sucker for a wrap dress and thrilly sleeve it is just the sort of style I would wear myself!

British Flowers

I’m not usually one to wish the time away but I am so looking forward to Spring and the start of the British flower season. Looking back at this bouquet is giving me fond memories of warm summer days. When the scabious, strawflowers, rudebekia and not forgetting those special creme brule phlox were all in season. At least we have the hellebores and snowdrops to keep us going for now.

Embracing that romantic yet natural feeling of the shoot I created an abundant urn with seaonal foliages including jasmine cow parsley that added a delicate wispy finish. I particualry love the little crab apples on the branches too which ties in nicely with the other fruit on the table.

Elegant Details

The stationary for our Simple Love editorial was designed by Fine Art Calligraphy, isn’t it stunning! It compliments the other details so perfectly too with the vintage silver tray and candlestick. How to have a picnic in style, have made a mental note for this summer 😉
