New Re-brand and other Flowery News

In today’s post I am sharing with you some of my tips on how to start your own wedding and event floristry business. Starting with the first fundemental question you need to ask yourself.

Hello lovelies!

We’re currently in the thick of wedding season so it’s all go here at flowery HQ but I have been so desperate to check in with you all and give you a little update on what we have been up to, with the new re-brand and other flowery news!  I sooo miss blogging, during the busy summer months I just don’t get a chance to post as often as I would like but as we haven’t yet blogged since our new re brand (more on that in a bit) I thought it was about time that I got my little fingers typing on here!! So here’s a little overview of what we have been up to…

The Rebrand

What do you think of our new look?? It’s really different from our previous branding isn’t it, I felt the business had grown a lot in the last few years so much so that our old branding just wasn’t really ‘us’ anymore. The new look is more sophisticated and what I would describe as ‘grown up’ (I hope you agree) we have had a slight name change with Joanne Truby Floral Design House which captures in a nutshell what we do, not just with the actual flowers themselves but with the overall design concepts that we create and all the details that go in to each and every one of those concepts. Two other big things we have also introduced with the re-brand is our floral masterclasses and prop hire service.

Floral Masterclasses

As I’m sure some of you already know we launched the beginnings of  our floral master classes last year with the introduction of our summer bouquet and Christmas wreath making classes, I found a real love for teaching and this is something I knew I definitely wanted to do more of. So along with our group classes (we shall be announcing dates for our Autumn and Winter classes soon so stay tuned) we are now also offering one to one classes which are to be held in photographer Claire Grahams stunning studio, Pale and Simple a light and tranquil space that provides the perfect back drop to learn and create magic with flowers. We’re also offering a separate add on to have Claire capture images of action shots of you working and the gorgeous creations that you make should you wish to add them to your portfolio. Classes are completely tailor made to suit you and what it is you would like to learn, more details can be found over on the website.

Prop Hire

Over the years we have accumulated A LOT of stuff ranging from vases, vessels, tea lights, candle holders, picture frames to fairy lights and everything else in between. I decided it made perfect sense to hire these items out to anyone who may be in need of what we have; couples getting married, stylists, event/wedding planners and other fellow florists too. The items can be hired along with booking us to do your flowers and styling or you can hire the items alone separately it is completely up to you. I still have more to add to the gallery which I am hoping to do so towards the end of the year once things have quietened down but in the mean time if you see anything you would like in our prop catalogue do get in touch.

British Flowers Week

A few weeks ago we collaborated with Joy to celebrate British Flowers Week and dressed the window of their flag ship store at Bankside. It was such a fun installation to work on and we were given free reign creatively with the design so as you can imagine we were in our element! The design in keeping with the brand was inspired by the things that bring us ‘joy’ flowers of course being one of these and the other rainbows, you can’t help but smile when you spot a rainbow on what has been a wet and miserable day. The design was made up of three large hanging white frames (these are also now available to hire FYI) each one made up of similar tones from the same colour pallet going from lilacs, purples and blues through to different shades of pinks and reds and finishing with corals, oranges and yellows to create a rainbow inspired effect. Underneath each of the frames was a flower meadow ‘runner’ that mirrored the same colours as above. Massive hats off to Sarah and the rest of the team that worked on the install as it was on a blazing hot sunny day, temperatures were in the mid 30’s so it was scorching! Especially working in the window which was effectively a green house it was hot, hot hot! It was amazing to see it all come together though &  this show reel created by the brilliant Guerrilla Ads  captures all the behind the scenes action… hope you enjoy!
