Hurrah at last it is finally sunny!! On the blog today I have an elegant Greenwich wedding with bright coloured blooms to share with you & my it is a beauty! Helen & Rob got married on the 6th of May at St Alfege Church in Greenwich followed by their reception in the gorgeous Nelson Banqueting Rooms at the Trafalgar Tavern. Helen adores flowers and wanted a bright and fun colour scheme which was made up of a medley of shades including hot pinks, purples, burgundies, corals and yellows mixed with hints of lighter blush tones to bring in a softer romantic edge. With it being our biggest wedding to date we flowered EVERY WHERE from large urn arrangements and pew ends for their ceremony in the church to a mix of tall gold trumpet centre pieces, short gold hurricane vases, the fire place and alcove were adorned with florals. We created a backdrop of hanging foliage hoops, a foliage stair case, bouquets, flower crowns, flower bracelets for each of her nearest and dearest friends (such a lovely idea) and even the lights above the bar weren’t left untouched! It was EPIC! Helen was an absolute joy to work with and I think her face in these stunning photos captured by Ann-Katherine Koch say it all.
The beginning of May is a transitional time for flowers when the seasons are in mid change and for a rare short windows varieties collide, the ranunculus season was coming to an end but still able to source and the peony season had just begun, giving lucky Helen the best of both worlds! I absolutely loved creating her bridal and bridesmaids bouquets which were made up of all sorts of goodness as well as the peonies and ranunculus there were; garden roses, clematis, scabious and aquilegia.
For the centre pieces we opted for gold to tie in nicely with the chairs and were made up of a mix of tall and short designs. For the tall we sourced gold trumpet vases which worked beautifully well with the elegant features of the room and for the low we used our gold hurricane vases. I love the height interest of both high and low designs, the flowers themselves were made up of gorgeous vibrant blooms and in the large window that overlooks onto the Thames we hung foliage hoops which created the perfect back drop to Helen & Rob’s top table.
Initially we were exploring the idea of a hanging insulation above the bar area but then I thought that the lights themselves were such a great feature that we should utilise them & so that’s exactly what we did, with the help of Steve and his brother who came equipped with the tallest ladder I have ever seen we floralised the lights above the bar! Pretty cool hey?!
Then there was the foliage staircase, a unique entrance idea to welcome your guests. The stair case was lit with hurricane vases and candles which also added to the drama and ambiance when their guests first arrived.
The stunning cake was created by Helen’s talented friend Alice, owner of Alice Cooks who also created all of the mouth watering food at their wedding, just looking at the gorgeous images on her website is making me hungry! Which was finished with brightly coloured blooms and parvi foliage that placed round the bottom.
It looked like the most incredible day and the sun shone brightly all day (hard to believe I know but I can vouch it did). Thank you so much to Helen for letting us loose on her wedding day and creating her vibrant yet elegant scheme.
Are you having an elegant wedding with bright coloured blooms? Would love to hear your plans.
Enjoy the Sunshine!
