Annie & Sam’s Secret Garden Wedding

In today’s post I am sharing with you some of my tips on how to start your own wedding and event floristry business. Starting with the first fundemental question you need to ask yourself.

I can not put into words how much I absolutely adored doing the flowers for Annie & Sam’s secret garden wedding, everything about their day was so personal & magical. I mean where do I begin? Annie & Sam had their ceremony & reception at Annie’s parents house, it was mesmarmersing to see the garden transform on the months leading up to the wedding when Annie & I met to discuss the flowers and on the morning of the wedding when I arrived to set up it took my breath away! The garden had become a beautiful oasis filled with trailing ivy, a love swing a beautiful painted barn & tipis!! Prepare to be transported to the secret garden….

All of the wooden signs were created by Sam’s talented sister Rosie, and they just fit the secret garden theme perfectly don’t you think? Rosie also created a large emblem sign that had Annie & Sam’s initials on & made up part of the dance floor. Each bar sign was named after Sam ‘Woodsy’s’ and Annie ‘Annabel’s’ she done an amazing job!

The incredible stationary was created by my friend, the lovely Clare Simpson Designs who was also one of Annie’s 9 bridesmaids! The stationary was a completely bespoke design created to reflect the secret garden theme, made specially to look old and worn (I have no idea how she does these things, so clever!). The table names were actual boxes which Clare had created, each one had a chapter and were named after a sentimental places to Annie & Sam.

The cake was created by Vicki’s celebration cakes isn’t it gorgeous, I love the trailing ivy. Each tier was placed on the hand made tree log stand.

For Annie & Sam’s centre pieces we created long wild like arrangements made up of lots of foliage, twigs and the flowers were in pretty pastel shades of blush pink, whites & ivories. We used delphiniums, alliums, dahlia’s, roses and scabiosa heads to name but a few of the ingredients. Placed either side of the long wild arrangements were an eclectic collection of different shaped bottles & jars one jar from each grouping was covered in moss and another covered in silver glitter we filled the bottles & jars with sharon fern, jasmine, twisted willow, stocks, nigella, roses, dahlias & scabiosa heads and in between the arrangements we laid birch wood branches & leaves. It looked lush, if I do say so myself 😉 and absolutely LOVED creating them!

The ceremony arch was made up of gorgeous garden roses which smelt divine, spray roses and bucket loads of hanging foliage! The seat cushions were made using the same material as the bridesmaids dresses, such incredible attention to detail, not a single aspect was missed, Annie & Sam had it all covered.

The stunning 50’s style bridesmaids dresses were designed & hand made by one of Annie’s best friends & bridesmaid herself, Lizzie the colours & the fabric are just dreamy. Annie & Sam’s friends and family really are a talented bunch!

The bridesmaids bouquets were made up of blush pink garden roses, white peonies, sweet peas, astrantia, astilbe, fern, eucalyptus & jasmine. The flower girls carried miniature bouquets made up of pretty astilbe in blush pink & white.

How gorgeous are these two? I adore Annie’s beautiful dress from Ella Grace Bridal Boutique and all the detailing, feathers & embellishment. Sam also looks dashing in his grey suit and his cream tie matches Annie’s belt to a tee.

Thank you so much to Annie & Sam for sharing their utterly stunning wedding day with us today, I hope it has brought back lots of happy memories for you both.
