Flower filled July

In today’s post I am sharing with you some of my tips on how to start your own wedding and event floristry business. Starting with the first fundemental question you need to ask yourself.

July was a truly epic month with not only some amazing weddings but we also had blog features over on rock & roll bride & Italian blog Wedding Wonderland & not to mention our first ever national FRONT COVER too!! More on that in our next blog post, for now before the craziness of August kicks in I wanted to share our best bits from our flower filled July. There were Bridal Bouquets from blush shades to burgundy, flower crowns, glitter jars, silk ribbon, copper containers, chair flowers & hanging installations!

This bridal bouquet is made up of garden roses, peonies, astrantia, achillea, cow parsley, blushing bride protea, jasmine and it smelt incredible (if I do say so myself!).

Oh I do love a flower crown, this one was for a gorgeous little flower girl but they can also look equally gorgeous on adult bridesmaids & brides too. Flower crowns are so on trend right now, Jacqui Ainsley totally rocked her flower crown last week when she tied the knot with Guy Ritchie’s at their festival inspired wedding, which you can see more of here.

Lucy’s bridal bouquet was made up of peonies, garden roses, astilbe, lisinathus, sweet peas & astrantia I totally love the light green/silvery grey toned foliage too it compliments the colours rather well, don’t you think?

The beautiful Horniman conservatory in Forest Hill all set up ready for the ceremony with chair ends to mark the aisle & flowers on their registrar table.

This bouquet is one of my all time favourites (ever!). I adore the mix of soft peach tones with the deeper autumnal burgundy colours. Made up of an array of beauties including; garden roses, black scabious, thistle, astilbe, salvia, fern & sanguisorba.

Wild arrangements in our new copper containers, which marked the entrance to the marquee, the whisky barrels worked really well too acting plinths & fit Monica & Hugh’s rustic decor.

The copper container arrangements were made up of roses, stocks, snap dragons, veronica, dahlia, allium, yellow dill & mixed foliages with berries. Finished with birch wood twigs to give each arrangement that wild ‘untamed’ feel. Do you like?

Now I’m not going to go on to much about our hanging foliage backdrop or flower chandelier despite both of then receiving rave reviews across our instagram and facebook accounts, mainly as I mentioned them both last week in our hanging flowers post. However I will say this, I absolutely relished every moment of designing & creating both of them & could not have done it without my amazing freelance girls & of course Steve. The logistics of the hanging chandelier were a bit hairy at times & being a designer you often have that slight element of doubt where you hope it’s going to look in real life how you envisage it in your head, but we got there & boy was it worth it! (If I do say so myself!).

Sometimes I have to pinch myself as a reminder of just how lucky I am to have a career that I love so much. Working with the most amazing couples to create their wedding day visions, it really is such an honor. We have another two weddings this week & one of them is a biggie so keep an eye out on our instagram feed for some sneak peeks & we shall see you on the other side.
