Tablescape Inspiration

How beautiful was the weather today? It was a crisp Autumnal morning with the golden sunlight peeking through the gaps in the trees in my garden. With a cool calm breeze in the air, one of those mornings you just want to bottle up and save, especially on those grey miserable days!  I wanted to share with you one of my favourite aspects of working with flowers and that is designing tablescapes! So today’s blog post, you guest it… tablescape inspiration with designs from some of our weddings we have had the pleasure of creating.

Tablescape Inspiration

Firstly before we get chatting about all the pretty it’s important to note that long table designs do cost more then round, the reason for this being that you need more flowers/arrangements to fill the space. As opposed to on a round table where you can have just one main arrangement in the middle. Although, long tablescape designs look amazing and create a real wow factor at your wedding breakfast. The above tablescape inspiration was from Lucy & Jon’s wedding at the stunning Elmley Nature Reserve, one of my most favourite venues to work at. I mean I think you can see why from this image, just wow! Those tall rustic beams and the floor to ceiling window with spectacular views overlooking the nature reserve.

Vibrant Blooms

For Lucy and Jon’s tables it was a fiesta of bright popping colours in shades of pink, purple, lilac and blues. In keeping with the rustic and eclectic feel to the day for the tablescapes we created designs made up of a mix of different vessels and containers. Wooden crates were filled with natural ‘meadow’ style arrangements which complimented the wooden beams of the barn perfectly. Paired with the crates were beer bottles, filled with flowers echoing the eclectic and rustic style. Brass candlesticks in a mix of different shapes and sizes with bright coloured candles completed the tablescape design.

Foliage Runners

In complete contrast Alice and Alex’s tablescape design was all about the foliage! Loose organic designs that created that feeling of bringing the ‘outside in’ inside the marquee. Paired with white flowers for a fresh and earth real style. The tablescapes which run the length of the tables were made up of a mixture of different foliages. Including; soft ruskus, olive, eucalyptus and parvi for a rustic Italian vibe. Over 500 test tubes were filled with water for the flowers to be placed amongst the foliage.

The decorative green water glasses compliment the foliage runners perfectly, along with the white candles paired with the white flowers. I adore that Alice and Alex opted to keep the wooden tables bare. With simple white runners and cross back chairs for that rustic Italian style they were striving to create. Tall bamboo trees lined the marquee poles and added height to the marquee designs. Two hanging chandeliers hung in the middle of the marquee with loose trailing foliage reflected the ‘outside in’ feel.

Tall Tablescape Designs

Another idea for tablescapes could be to opt for tall designs? These ‘tree’ designs were created for Candice and Rael’s winter wedding in January. The height really adds impact and the wintry feel of the seasonal foliages and twigs work so well with the twinkling fairy lights. In between each of the ‘trees’ were oodles of glass hurricane and fluted candles, placed at different heights along with a mix of cut glass vases to compliment the other glass details. Flowers in their wintry muted tones of dusky pinks, wines, nudes, whites and burgundies filled the vases and added a pop of colour to the tables too. They had a later sit down meal once it was dark outside so the candles were so effective. All the glass created a sleek yet elegant feel to the design.

Blush & Pale Blue Tones

I adore this colour combination from Harry & Ruby’s wedding last week. The pops of pale blue introduced with the gorgeous Ester & Erik candles and the ridged glass tumblers work so beautifully with the colours of the flowers. For this tablescape design we created an eclectic mix of different vessels and vases that lent themselves to a more elegant country garden feel rather then rustic.

Each table consisted of one grey compote footed bowl, two cut glass vases, two brass vases and two gold brass candlesticks to create a full ‘runner’ effect on the tables. Blousy blooms paired with other meadow style flowers such as those dreamy cosmos dressed the tables in a soft romantic colour pallet of blush, peach, nude, white and a slightly deeper mid pink to add warmth.

Tablescape Inspiration

I hope today’s post has given you some ideas for tablescape inspiration. There’s so many options and possibilities of the different designs you can create which is what I love about tablescapes. My advice would be to work with your surroundings whether that be a venue or a marquee and create a design that compliments the space.  The fuller the better in my opinion too, especially to create that wow impact.

Do you prefer round or long tables? If the latter what designs are you gravitating more towards?
